Ideas:
1 =) The most cherished experience as a part-time HR Professional
The promise & possibility of training and practice of Mind-attitude change / development for creativity and better quality of life including excellent performance culture through more and more Brain Power Utilization
The satisfaction / contentment of bringing about betterment in others and making them learn new ways of doing things which are more proactive, creative, productive, effective and self-satisfying & contended with enhancement / expansion of capacity for the good of society and mankind.
I felt good being useful in acting as a facilitator for resolving human / individual challenges & / or conflicts etc. by using insight, intuition and other HR interventions to bring about cheer, flowering and harmony / balance in individual and inter-personal & individual vis-à-vis socio-environment dimension.
I have utilized one-to-one dialogue, problem solving exercises, personality exploration and development of right thinking seed-patterns which results in brighter awakening by experiential learning i.e., making them do and get convinced by results / changes
There is need to systematize or modify evaluation techniques and methods, whereby individual talents at times latent can be properly utilized. The focus must be on bringing about the best in the individual by proper molding. Judgment must be for improvement & betterment where compassion is the watchword and not condemnation
2 =) Critical areas of learning
I am aiming at following major areas (critical / crucial) of learning:
a) Orienting towards holistic work methods in tune with laws of Nature which includes customer delight, employee satisfaction - training or capacity enhancement in terms of Brain Power - Creativity Development for socio-economic balance & integration which includes environment conservation or protection, energy conservation and most important sustainable development (suitable sustainable development models / modules for Indian conditions individually & organizationally needs to be developed) with R & D and other relevant technology development for which proper HR interventions in terms of mind-attitude training / development and capacity building is required. Relevant seed ideas need to be germinated in the HR fraternity for the realization of these objectives. This will also pave the way for ecological balance and Nature conservation which is the critical need of the hour.
b) I also need to mould my mind-personality more wholly, completely, fully with one-pointed ness of mind - focus to set the training standard for self and others by practicing the rules of the game.
c) Other learning is from other's practical experiences as case studies to test whether ground is fertile to implement seed ideas
d) Finally to absorb, assimilate whatever is offered as input-curriculum by applying discrimination, wisdom and adapting to the personality changes required for effective self/ other's training and implementation. So, Self change is of utmost importance
3 =) Research-Study
Yes, I have conducted a major research study apart from many others including PG course-related, which was part of seed-research program of Ministry of Energy, Environment and Technology. This was done for and on behalf of Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad to study the Energy conservation measures practiced and energy consumption pattern in India process Industries. Based on this study, a paper was presented in International Conference organized by IEEE CON, US, held at Hyderabad, India.
The process adopted and the research method used for data collection was primarily:
a) Comprehensively designed questionnaire which was mailed as well as individually handeled & discussed
b) Personal Interviews
c) Telephonic Interviews and discussion
As online methods were not available 15 years back, they could not be used. After the data collection a detailed & exhaustive report with in-depth, interpretive, explanatory with comparative analysis and indicating a trend and subsequently recommending suitable development initiative was made and sent to Industries & Industry participants for their follow-up action and remedial measures
4 =) The values and culture
CEOs often give little importance to values and culture .... This is very true and well said as most of my past 30 years of experience corroborates the same and here comes the challenge. Although, I have already tried in the past without much success, the values and culture, I will try to promote are as follows:
a) Excellent Performance culture
b) Creativity culture, which I found sadly & abysmally non-existent (and I suffered greatly because of the same)
c) Sustainable development culture which includes socio-cultural and environmental concerns and responsibilities
d) Quality & process concerns for better and better quality of products
e) Employees are the real assets, therefore proper care, concerns, training, development and growth opportunities / openings for them is very essential for harmonious individual and organizational development. This will also prevent high absenteeism, change of jobs or high attrition rate. Health, training, motivation, individually focused problem resolution of each working member of the organization including MD, chairman to helper worker. This will help in building trust and developing a culture of trusteeship, where every worker is trustee as well as part - owner.
I will focus on overall, holistic and larger & balanced growth of organization which serves its higher purpose of social, business, nature-ecological-environment and sustainable development which are more lasting, permanent and the roots grow more & more strong leading to more and more fruitful growth of the organization. Again, I need to learn more on this !
5 =) Vision of my Alma mater - IT-BHU
Being a brilliant student throughout my schooling years, I always had the privilege of getting top ranks (1-3 ) in ,my secondary schools of kolkata. After being selected in Jadavpur and other engg. colleges like IIT JEE & and interview at IIT kharagpur, I chose to got to ITBHU, Varanasi. ITBHU has been my place or professional school as alma mater, which has had the deepest impact on my growth of personality and being a professional.
250 word vision
The vision, I carry of this college is all encompassing, truly Universal and across & beyond the boundaries of caste, communities, region, language, religion or division of any kind, although, it was primarily for Hindus & Hindu Culture. It was transformational, budding & germinating years of my life & personality and the Institution molded it, beyond compare as it left an indelible mark on my attitude, culture, personality and the culture of self-dependence, excellent & creative performance, helping others, and doing something for the society and the world to bring a change for the better. Recently, I had gone for a 30 yrs reunion to my college (alma mater) and I felt a very strong unbreakable bond & affinity to its excellent campus, Departments, Laboratories, Faculty members, and other supporting staff.
The vision in truly Vaisudhaiv Kutumbam, (global village feeling). It is vibrating with the founding spirit of Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya jee, a true saint, philosopher, Karma yogi and a patriot. Its many splendored course curriculum prepares the student for the challenging life ahead of him. Of course scientific & engineering theories and principles are there, but more important is mind & maturity development as part of Personality growth with all round curricular & extra curricular activities according to individual taste, talents and aptitudes.

6 =) The three most critical HR - related challenge for Indian Organizations in future are:
a) Conducive work culture and environment which is supportive to bring out the best by considering individual aptitudes
b) Creativity culture and other intangible - climate, atmosphere - conditions for full blooming of individuals potentials.
c) Motivational-compassionate based training & evaluation - judgment culture, which is meant for individual growth & development rather than limiting the individual
The intervention needed is changing policy decision and bringing the changes from the top by training and development culture. Also, seeing the bigger / larger picture to integrate - harmonize with market needs / forces and global & scenario / outlook. In my experience, when I was unable to change the top management, I had to change my organization and muster few like minded individuals to gather the momentum necessary to bring about the desired changes.
7 =) Importance of Training
I had been associated with training and consultancy Institutions / Organization for more than five years on part time basis in the past and I can understand what you are saying. Nevertheless, it has tremendous value in imparting right attitudes, culture, ways of looking at things and correcting individual perceptions at cognitive level for better quality of work culture, life and excellent / creative performance culture by utilization of more & more of Brain - Mind Power.
8 =) How to sell to CEOs:
The only way to market my ideas with the top decisions makers is by setting a personal example of actual performance without training and actual performance after training. Also change in output or sales turnover. No other selling ideas will work as per my experience, unless the top decision - maker is broad minded, expansive & open minded. The case studies and examples of other Organizations and their output / performance who are incorporating training & development in their work culture must be given.
Talents of War =) There is war of talents going on in Organizations these days and attrition or job-change rate is high as organizations vie to buy the talents. Managing Talent is a subject of serious contemplation & reflection, where one needs to find out the causes which help in attracting and retaining the right / bright talent.
